Christmas 2011 – Birth of a New Tradition

I know blog posts are supposed to be short but I’m going to make an exception with this one. I’ll try to condense the basic idea but will follow with the whole story for those that may want to read further. Our country is in pretty bad shape right now and we don’t seem to have many leaders in either political party that are close with a solution.What can we do to help that provides positive energy to the earth? This requires very little effort, if any at all. Just a little bit of a mindshift is required.This email came to me a few days ago and it really touched my heart. I don’t know the author so I can’t give them any credit but I really have to share it. Since I’ve become involved with TCA I’ve become more aware of the impact of shopping local and the good that it brings to the community. I’ve gotten to know many small business owners on a deeper level here in the Northern Colorado area and I know how much they are struggling in this economy.We need to stop driving so far to save a buck or two at the big box stores when we could walk, or not drive far, to a local business. We’re using less fuel and putting our money back to work in the community. I just returned from experiencing my 3rdClub Sea Breeze/Balansera “Condo Vacation” in less than a year. I live in the beautiful state of Colorado and we have some incredible properties available at very low pricing during the off season. I’m learning that in the ski towns, it’s technically called the Mud Season, great time to visit these towns, no crowds.I’ve only been a Colorado resident for 12 years but Colorado was always our #1 vacation spot. With gas closing in on $4 a gallon, I really appreciate my Balansara membership. I need to take my own advice

I’ve had it on my “to do” list to update my blog for the last 2 months, why haven’t I done it? I just re-read my Just Do It post and read all the blah, blah, blah about posting once or twice a week and I’m going to do better and all that jazz.I think I think too much sometimes. Trying to come up with the exact words to say. Will anyone read this, will it make a difference in anyone’s life, etc. I guess if nobody reads it then it doesn’t really matter what I come up with to say, right?I’m not going to make any promises to do better this time since it’s been almost 3 months since my last post. I will say that I’ve been going through some incredible changes in my life over the last several months. Some of you that know me well may have noticed. There’s really something to this weird energy work ; )I really, really, really do, did I say really enough times? I really do want to share what I’m doing with so many other people. This is different though. I can only share if you are open to receive. I’m not exactly sure what I’m doing yet but it’s giving my blog name a lot more meaning. I really wanted my first blog back from convention to be all about the Melaleuca convention that I just attended.. What an awesome convention it was, by the way. I will tell you about some of the highlights in a later post. Sorry in advance for this long post but I think this one deserves it.Today I want to share my life changing experience with you that happened on my trip home. I woke up early yesterday morning, August 15, 2010, with the beginnings of a migraine. I knew I had a 7 hour drive home but I just wanted to sleep. I took a couple of CounterAct Pain Tablets and laid back down for a few minutes.I woke up at 10 am, so much for an early start but I felt a little better. I headed out, stopped to get something to eat but didn’t have much of an appetite yet. After 3 hours on the road I was feeling sick and tired again. I pulled over at a rest stop to close my eyes for a few minutes. It started getting hot in the car so I got out, refreshed a little and got back on my way.A half hour later I caught myself resting my eyes while driving. You can’t do that, I yelled at myself. Thought about getting off again but it had only been 1/2 hour so turned the air up full blast, put in a Buckcherry CD and continued on.Next thing I know I’m feeling the rumble strips and CRASH!!!!! I’m now wide awake on the left side of the road, not sure what I hit but I’m spinning around and facing the car behind me. Holy Crap…. All I’m thinking about is getting the car under control and hoping that the guy behind me is paying attention and doesn’t hit me.I’m not sure if I spun all the way around or back around the same way but I was able to face forward again, regain control and pulled over to the shoulder of I-80. The guy behind me kept on going. I’m trying to dial 911 to report and my hands were shaking so bad I was having a hard time with that.A guy pulling a boat pulled off and came up and asked if I was all right. He couldn’t believe what he had seen and that I had pulled it out and not flipped off the road. I told him that it looked pretty scary from my vantage point too and that I couldn’t believe I was ok. I guess learning how to drive in Iowa winters paid off for me.Now the moment of truth, what did I do to the car, since I didn’t kill myself, Mike is gonna kill me…. I was 1 mile from the Green River WY exit, still had 300 miles to go. I knew that my driver side mirror was gone and I figured I had hit the guard rail or something and my whole left side would be a mess. I figured I had to have at least a flat tire or two. I got out of the car and other than the smell of burning rubber and my broken mirror there was no other signs of what had happened, unbelievable.A guy and his daughter, out for a ride on his Harley, had stopped on the frontage road and he yelled over to see if I needed help. I ran down to talk with him telling him that someone was watching out for me, He said he knew who. He was a youth minister at a local church there. We had a great conversation, he asked if he could say a prayer with me and I thought that under the circumstances, that sounded like a pretty good idea. What a meaningful prayer it was, I was so touched by the kindness of this stranger, I have tears running down my eyes now as I’m writing this. We exchanged contact information so that I could let him know that I arrived home safely.After about 25 minutes the Highway Patrol showed up. I told him my story and he’s just shaking his head. We didn’t have to fill out a report because there were no injuries and less than $1000 in damage. He told me that not too many people can lose control of a car at 75 mile an hour (it was actually closer to 80) and live to tell about it, let alone so little damage.My migraine was gone and I was wide awake the rest of the trip home. It was rather difficult changing lanes the rest of the way home but I made it home safe and sound. I broke out in tears when I pulled into my driveway. So thankful to be back. The theme at convention was Your Future Starts Now. I am taking that to heart because I was so close to losing my future yesterday.I love each and every one of you reading this. No matter what you are doing in your life, just take a moment to reflect on how fast it can be taken away from you. I’m still trying to find what my purpose in life is but I know that I must be here for a reason. If you’re not making the most out of life you can begin today. I met some really awesome women last night by attending a Queen of Your Own Life Party, what a cool theme. A couple of networking friends were planning to attend and the title of the party was intriguing, the invite said to bring a bottle of wine to share. Sounded like a great idea for a Saturday night while my hubby was working.Wow, is all I can say. Somehow our conversation turned to energy in the universe and then they were talking about bending silverware and woo-woo stuff like that. I’ve had a hard time believing in all of that and wasn’t really paying a lot of attention but everyone was doing it so I didn’t want to be a party pooper and had to give it a try. One by one they all started bending their knives and forks. I saw it with my own eyes and my fork was just as rigid as it was when I started. I really wanted it to happen for me but I figured that my mind wouldn’t let it, then all of a sudden it bent, I was shocked.I’m still not sure how I did it but I can’t wait to get together with this group of women again. The energy in the room was incredible and I do want to tap into that. It may be weird but I think there’s something to it.Thank you to Tamara Younker, Ronda Wada, Joan Eurich, Karen Fritz, Deberah Bringelson and Katie English for making me feel so welcome and providing some well needed girlfriend time. You are all incredible women. If you want to be successful you need to surround yourself with successful people. The crowd you hang with really effects your life, more than you know.
